Reza Soleymani

Reza Soleymani received his B.S. from the University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran, in 1976; his M.S. from San Jose State University, San Jose, CA, in 1977; and his Ph.D. from Concordia University, Montréal, QC, Canada, in 1987, all in electrical engineering. From 1987 to 1990, he was an Assistant Professor with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McGill University, Montreal. From October 1990 to January 1998, he was with Spar Aerospace Ltd. (currently EMS Technologies Ltd.), Montreal, QC, Canada, where he had a leading role in the design and development of several satellite communication systems.

In January 1998, he joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Concordia University, as an Associate Professor. His current research interests include wireless and satellite communications, information theory, and coding. He holds the Concordia Research Chair in Multimedia Wireless Communications.



Rongxin Zhang

Rongxin Zhang received her B.E. degree in telecommunication engineering from Xidian University, Xi’an, China, in 1991. She came to Canada in 2002 and enrolled in the M.A.Sc program in electrical engineering at Concordia University. Her research is focused on signal processing and space-time coding.

Prior to joining Concordia University, she worked as a telecommunication engineer at CTI Company in Shijiazhuang, China.

Amitava Biswas

Amitava is an engineer, information systems, and management professional. He received his undergraduate degree in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Khragpur. He then went on to complete his MBA at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He has worked in the software applications domain for eight years primarly designing and developing business and telecommunication systems working closely with system users. He has experience in system conceptualization, functional design and novel networking applications.

Other interests include the future of technology and society, human behavior and the environment. Currently he is working on his graduate thesis in computer engineering at Concordia University.
