Jennifer Gabrys is enrolled in the Communication Studies Ph.D. program at McGill University, where she is completing dissertation research on electronic waste. Her work on media landscapes ranges from a virtual and sonic garden for an online exhibit at Studio XX in Montreal, to a panel discussion on the negotiation of local and global space at Society for Arts and Technology. Previously, she practiced landscape architecture and art in Los Angeles, where she worked on a range of urban public projects. She is currently mapping soundscapes in Montreal through the Digital Cities project, and is involved with the Culture of Cities project in researching the intersection of urban spaces with communication technologies.
